Jose Foundation Tasks Buhari On Corruption… Kicks Against Defections By Politicians

Jose Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) with international network and interest in African affairs, has congratulated, the President-Elect, General Mohammadu Buhari and task the in-coming government to fight corruption by making sure it starts from the top to bottom. The Foundation also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his support to the in-coming government.

According to a statement made available to the press by the Foundation’s President, Prince Martins Abhulimhen, a recent meeting with its think tank in London at the Four Seasons Hotel in Park Lane, canvassed for the setting up of a shadow cabinet government by the opposition, as is practised in the United Kingdom, to checkmate the in-coming government and help fight corruption rather than defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abhulimhen added that his Foundation is at an advanced stage of organising a technical workshop in London targeted at Nigerian politicians with a view to strengthening the nascent democracy.

According to him, the workshop will educate and enlighten politicians on the need to set up a shadow government to check the activities of the ruling government and proffer solutions when and where necessary.

It would be recalled that Buhari recently expressed reservations over politicians defecting to the APC, saying “I hope the people that are defecting will accept the fact that they are joining the people who succeeded. So, I don’t think they will just come and say they want to be ministers next month, simply because they were ministers before.”

The Foundation, Abhulimhen added, “will contribute its technical know-how through the its blue-print to set up the shadow cabinet to help fully establish a democracy that will work for the New Nigeria”.

Advising the President-Elect, Abhulimhen stated that “GMB must look beyond party to get honest Nigerians who will serve Nigerians and put the interest of the country beyond selfish interests”.

Noting that Nigerian is blessed with many qualified and enlightened men and women, the President called on the in-coming President to look both within and outside the country to invite capable hands to move the country forward.

The Foundation’s President called on well meaning Nigerians to cooperate with the in-coming government so the government can deliver the dividends of democracy to the benefit of the people.
